Brisbane’s best Greek

Posted by on Dec 2, 2015 in Cafes, Restaurants, Takeaway

As Brisbane sinks deeper into its sweet, sticky summer, the afternoons become longer and lazier. It is the time of year that the holiday gatherings surge and you can often be found lying under a fan naked, wishing you were tanning on a greek island. So what better time than now to get amongst Brisbane’s best greek offerings! Here are some of our faves this summer.

The Yiros Shop

Who ever decided to snaz up the meal of choice for midnight revellers and serve it before sundown is my hero. Thank you Yiros Shop for allowing me to munch down on a yiros filled with hot chips guilt free. The Yiros Shop can be found on James St in The Valley and at Southgate Shopping Centre in Cannon Hill. Their menu is simple, focusing on (you guessed it!) yiros done well along with a couple of other Greek street food staples. Well worth the visit!

Zeus Street Greek

One of the newer venues at South Bank, Zeus has slipped right in to the colourful offerings of the Grey Street precinct. Zeus offers tapas style Greek street food perfect for sharing with friends on a hot afternoon. Or you can enjoy it at home on the couch under your aircon watching Netflix because Zeus do takeaway AND delivery (you don’t even have to leave your igloo!). As well as creating damn tasty Greek food, Zeus has an emphasis on using locally and ethically sourced produce. And to that, we say “OPA!’.

Little Greek Taverna

This post wouldn’t be right without a Little Greek Taverna mention! It’s a staple of West End and loved by all who enjoy Greek food and BYO restaurants… a match made in heaven. Overlooking the intersection of Melbourne St and Browning St, Little Greek Taverna is the prefect venue to sink a few drinks and hoe down on some quality Greek with mates. And to top it off, this family business puts an emphasis on quality without charging exorbitant prices! Little Greek Taverna knows how to give the people of Brisbane what they want.
