We went to the Cat Cuddle Cafe. It was pawsome.

I’m a crazy cat lady, and i’m more than ok with it. Unfortunately for me, my beloved kitties live with my mum all the way in Toowoomba. So to fill the cat shaped hole in my heart, I headed down to the Cat Cuddle Cafe in Ashgrove – which, I found out, is a 20 min walk from my house! Much closer than Toowoomba.

Although the Cat Cuddle Cafe has the word ‘cafe’ in the name, it is primarily a cat shelter/haven and secondly a cafe. They serve adorably named coffee such as a Meowchas or a Ca-purr-chinos and their beans are free trade and organic from Prestige Organic Coffee. It wasn’t the greatest coffee I’d ever had in my life, but let’s be honest, I was not there for the coffee. As well as coffee you can also purchase some baked goods like quiches and muffins, however these are all outsourced and made off premises due to Australian food laws.

The one aspect that Cat Cuddle Cafe excels in in the cafe stakes is the ability to make you feel relaxed and at home. It really does feel like you have walked into your crazy spinster aunties’ living room/cat palace. The atmosphere encourages you to chat and laugh with your friends and even to make some likeminded new ones – bonding over cats as you would good food (… just me?).

You must book in advance at the cat cafe to avoid overcrowding and there is also a $10 fee for a 1hr visit. A small price to pay for some feline love. The kitties are free to roam about the room, sleep where they please and the vast majority are keen for a pat and a scratch behind the ear. All the cats chosen for the cafe are friendly, and enjoy the company of other cats and humans. Just make sure you don’t disturb a sleepy kitty. The best part is that they are all up for adoption! So if you fall in love with one (or two) special kitties, you can take them to their furever home! The Cat Cuddle Cafe seriously screens all their new adoptees, however, so life-long cat lovers only.

Overall, the Cat Cuddle Cafe is not a place you want to go if you’re looking for culinary delights, but it IS the perfect place to unwind, de-stress, have a laugh with a cat-crazed friend, or fill the cat-shaped whole in your heart, like me!

Now for the part you’ve all been waiting for – Cat photos!
